*Gus walks into the control room to address his crew, his a all so familiar object in his hands*
Gus: "Behold men, the simple rose. to many a symbol of love, to others, of blood. of all things, the rose is known to be shown in gardens, in beautiful vases, as gifts for your ladies. we fight to keep these familiar items, like the rose, in our lives, the way they were meant to be. But others, they fight to destroy our way of life. to make our life seemed destroyed.
"i have seen each and every one of you fly into that country seven years ago, not expecting half of us would live to see today. the enemy fought to see civilazation crumble. for the blood, and destruction. we fought back to keep this from reaching the rest of the world. to make life recognizable the next day. like this rose *gus crushes the rose in his already blood crusted bare hands* used to be. The world thinks what it wants to think. that we have won this war. i'm not sure what they think, we have done to consider this a victory.
"You, young soldier. you look like you've been through hell and back. Do you consider this war, a victory?
Soldier: "yes"
Gus: "yes what"
soldier: "yes, i think that we have beaten the terrorists and won this war."
Gus: "beaten, the terrorists? thats what wins a war, huh? last i checked, the terrorists idea of winning a war is to shed as much blood and destroy as much life for the enemy as possible. and how do you think we won this war, if they're dream is realized. did we kill enough of them? did we destroy enough of they're homes? kill they're leader? none of this, brings victory to my head.
"To me, to win a war, is to bring absolute stability to every country as possible. to make everything as normal as possible when we back out. to me, we have far from acheived this goal. families... and friendships... *a lump begins to form in his throat* were completly destroyed. our country has suffered an undeniable loss. But to only think of revenge, is just shameful. our point to fight this war, to risk our lives, was to bring peace, for around the world. but all we could think of was our personal revenge. of putting ourselves in front of others. and it has cost us the loss of a very, very dear relationship.
"of course i dont blame you, or put the shame on only my team. 'cus i know half the world was beant on this same goal also. including me"...
Soldier #2: "Sir"...
Gus: "no, the leader is always responsible for his squad. no matter his position. now, when we head back stateside, i give every one of you exactly 48 hours of layover. to recover what youy can. salvage memories. give unpaid dues. then i want everybody back at the base and accounted for. we still have our own souls to account for. and our fight isnt over yet. not by a longshot. now gear up, and move out"-
a long speach that randomly came to me during unknown freetime. i'm thinking about placing this into something of something or another. i dont know yet. hope you enjoyed. this was meant to get paople to think of themselves, and their country, on a personal level...
AND BTW, TBA STANDS FOR TO BE ANNOUNCED.
